DINING OUT
Thursday, February 23 6:00 PM Asian cuisine in Kearny Mesa
This is an Asian style Grill & Tavern with happy hour pricing. They have good parking, great service, and separate checks. RSVP to Diane.
Torrey Pine's Ethnic Dining Out is a group of adventurous club members who originally met on the Third Tuesday of Each Month, for dinner at different Ethnic restaurants in central San Diego. We don't meet so often currently but our goal is still to find authentic, Mom and Pop establishments, in ethnic neighborhoods that are clean and reasonably priced. Our first meeting was at La Sevilla on December, l994 and we have been meeting ever since! We have visited more than 55 different restaurants representing 34 different cuisines!! Between 4 and 20 attend and new members are welcome anytime.
Since we need to inform these (usually small) restaurants of our visit, reservations are essential so we can let the restaurant know how many to expect.

"Pollinators in Peril: What's up with the Bees?" is the topic for February. Honey bees face multiple natural and man made dangers in their environment. Ironically, they are highly successful because of their use in modern agriculture, yet are suffering because modern agriculture imposes stresses from pesticides, diseases, parasites, and management practices such as mobile beekeeping. Join James Nieh, Professor of Biological Sciences at UCSD, to explore natural threats and the effects of pesticides on honey bee foraging. Learn more about the amazing solutions that bees have evolved to natural perils and how our use of pesticides may be contributing to their decline.
Then the IMAX movie, "ADVENTURES IN WILD CALIFORNIA" celebrates California's natural wonders and unique culture. From the Gold Rush to snow board fever, from the interior of massive Sequoias to the hidden workers on the Golden Gate Bridge, heart-pounding imagery recreates experiences few will ever have. [40 minutes]
